Work I have done on JISC funded OER projects in the last couple of years

Reflection

I acted as lead technical advisor for this larger 100K OER project (phase 2). The focus of this release of OERs was discoverability, through search engines, and also within the site itself.

SCOOTER - Sickle Cell Anaemia OERs

Health and Life Science OER project

Reflection

I acted as lead technical advisor on this 250K (phase 3) OER project which was again designed to produce and host open educational resources, using various SEO and other tricks to keep the searchability high. Whilst there were benefits to this strategy, my feeling is that a more sustainable way forward is to start to work with formats and standards.

So, after all this work, my preference would be to define a standard for OERs (technically, like DUBLIN CORE). Then searcahbility becomes more achievable prospect.
