Lancaster

Synopsis

I co-ordinate support services for teaching, learning and research. This includes Mahara, Moodle, Sakai, Panopto lecture capture, Turnitin plagiarism detection and assignment submission service, Adobe Connect virtual classroom and meeting service and other technologies such as FutureLearn MOOCs.

 Awards

I was awarded the 'Learning Technologist of the Year 2012' by the leading national Association for Learning Technology (ALT)

I was awarded an Outstanding contribution award in 2013 internally within Lancaster University

My team of student eLearning assistants won the group prize for Student Employee of the Year award in 2013 (I wrote the application)

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

I lead the development of Lancaster's Massive Open Online Course output through FutureLearn, including Corpus Linguistics, by Professor Tony McEnery, and the upcoming Global Food Security, by Professor Bill Davies CBE

I am a critical friend for a Co-Design MOOC being developed within LICA

I have been a tutor and course designer on the ALT ocTEL (open course in technology enhanced learning) in 2013 and 2014. The 2013 version pioneered the 'course reader' technology for collaborative reflection and the 2014 iteration will include open badge technology, both of which I find very exciting.

Thinking

I have taught a lecture for 1st year education students for 2 years, in which I describe my thinking on open source thinking and the control of knowledge

Basically...

If something is happening on campus that looks, feels, or smells like e-learning, it's probably got my fingerprints all over it Smile
